The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Member-Elect for Jos South/Jos East federal Constituency, Plateau State, Hon. Dachung Bagos has raised alarm that few days to the Governorship and House of Assembly elections, results sheets for the Governorship position were already in circulation in the hands of unauthorized persons.

Hon. Bagos, however, called on Independence National Electoral Commission, INEC and the Security Agencies to, as a matter of urgency, investigate the matter and ensure that only true and authentic materials supplied for the Saturday Elections are used.

He also faulted the call for additional security agents in the State saying the authorities failed to so when the state was facing attacks by herdsmen and they needed security men to help save lives.

Bagos who spoke during a press conference in Jos, warned that citizens would not accept any outcome of the elections that is not the voice of the people and cautioned INEC against the practice of holding the people’s mandate hostage.

According to him it is very obvious that the Government in power is desperately nursing evils to forcefully upturn the outcome of the elections to the advantage of APC.

“We are worried that the APC is trying to portray that there are impending threats of crises and anarchy in the State during the elections. We received credible information that the State government has asked for a deployment of more security to Plateau State.

“We want the federal government to disregard such request because Plateau is peaceful, and when you hear the heartbeat of a Plateau man you know that they want to vote for PDP. That’s why the Governor is trying to portray that the State is under threat. When people were being killed in large numbers on daily basis why was adequate security not deployed to the state to protect lives and property?

“It is all over on social media that, Lalong has sneaked in result sheets of Governorship elections, and we don’t want to take such issues lightly. We want to warn the State government not to try what it did during the local government election, where results were being collated in various local government but they went ahead to announced winners.”

He said what happened during the Presidential and National Assembly elections where their results were held for days before they were later released has created a lot of suspicion on the credibility of the INEC to conduct free and fair elections.

He called on citizens to be wary of the antics of desperate politicians who want to rig elections and advised them to protect their votes.

Reacting, the INEC Head, Voter’s Education and Publicity, Osaretin Imahiereobo denied knowledge of results sheets in circulation, adding, “we just started the distribution of materials on Wednesday, I’m not sure if they are referring to what we distributed or something else.”
