The National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), University of Jos Branch, has called on the authorities to immediately begin a clampdown on car parks harbouring criminals.

NAAT, who expressed their concern in Jos over activities at such parks, said the hoodlums launched attacks from such places during crisis, including the recent one, which occurred in parts of the state and led to the loss of lives and properties.

The association’s Chairman, Aleni Alex Luke, in his remarks, said students are always casualties of attacks during crisis in the state, adding that illegal parks opposite tertiary institutions, as well as that of the Bauchi Road campus of the University of Jos, should be relocated immediately to avoid gathering of hoodlums/criminals.

He urged the school authorities to collaborate with transporters in order to establish Campus Taxis (Commuter cars and buses) for members of the university community and her environs.

Luke called on the state government to live up to its responsibilities to the people in the area of protection of lives and property.

He further called on the government to deepen its collaboration with the security agencies by stationing security personnel at strategic locations at flashpoints areas at all times and not only in time of crisis.
