Plateau State House Of Assembly Members Donates 50% Salary for Palliatives

Members of the Plateau State House of Assembly, has resolved to donate half of their May 2020 salary to Plateau State Covid-19 trust Fund, in order to boast the palliative giving out by the State government.

The Speaker, presided, Rt Hon Abok Ayuba, announced this during Tuesday plenary of the house, He said that all members unanimously agreed to donate half of their May salary to the Plateau State Covid -19 account, in support of State government palliative to cushion the difficulty face by the Plateau citizens as a result of the knockdown.

At the plenary were a bill for a law to provide for the establishment of the Plateau State Internal Service, a unified structure of Revenue collections and Remittance by Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDA) as well as harmonise the rates and levels collectible by Local Government Council, to repeal the Plateau State Revenue (Consolidation) law 2017. Sponsored by the house majority leader, Hon Naanlong Daniel secure it second reading.

Briefing newsmen shortly after the day plenary, the Chairman,house committee on information,Hon Philip Dasun, says 9th State Assembly as part of its commitment and responsibility of serving the State, decided to sacrifice half of their May salary in support of State government fight against covid-19 virus. Hon Dasun,a member representing Pankshin North constituency, explained that, the house noted with sincerity the high levels of patience and resilience demonstrated by Plateau people by staying at home during the knockdown period and keeping to be rules. He however, called on the Palliative Committee to expedite action of distributing the palliative speedily to cushion the hunger face by the citizens especially to the less vulnerable persons While appreciating the Citizens for their unflinching support giving the government of the day. He prayed God to curtail the novel disease.
