COVID-19: Plateau government orders closure of all public, private schools

Following the recent pandemic outbreak of coronavirus in the country, the Plateau State Government has ordered that all public and private schools in the state, be shut down on or before March 21 till further notice.

Prof. Danladi Atu, the Secretary to the State Government, made this known in a statement on Thursday in Jos.

Atu said that all schools, including pre-primary, primary, secondary and tertiary institutions in the state are to remain closed till the disease is been curbed.

He said that shutting down institutions was part of safety measures taken to ensure that People are not being exposed to the disease.

However, he urged parents cultivate the act of family hygiene, to curtail and prevent the spread of the disease.

DAILY POST had reported that due to the coronavirus outbreak, which has put the whole world literarily on hold, the Federal Government, on Thursday ordered the closure of all the 104 Unity Schools in the country from March 26 in order to prevent the spread of the dreaded Coronavirus

The virus which broke out from Wuhan, China in December was declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

Nigeria has reported more cases of the virus and over 6,500 people have been killed across the world and 27 African countries affected
