Gunmen kidnap DPO in Plateau

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen.
Reports say the senior police officer, popularly called SP Laree, was abducted on Thursday at Woktori Hotel in Pankshin.
SP Laree had just resumed posting as the DPO in the area a day before his abduction.
According to a police officer in the council area who confirmed the incident to newsmen in Jos, the gunmen kidnapped the DPO after shooting him.
“The DPO was just posted to Pankshin about three days ago,” the officer recounted.
“He was staying in a hotel in Pankshin and was in that hotel when the gunmen came and shot him before taking him away.”
At the time of filing this report, the Police Public Relations Officer in Plateau State, DSP Alfred Alabo, had not responded to calls for comment.
