The Islamic State West Africa Province has executed a Christian hostage from Plateau State, Mr. Ropvil Daciya Dalep.

Daciya, 22, a student of Biology Education in University of Maiduguri was abducted on Thursday January 9, 2020 near the Borno State capital.

Kidnapped along with him is a 20years-old Zoology student of the same University, Miss Lilian Daniel Gyang and one other.

The third hostage, MK gathers was released but the two Christian Plateau natives remained in captivity.

On Tuesday, the distressing video of Mr. Daciya’s execution was shared online by SITE Intelligence Group, an organization that tracks the activities of terrorists around the world.

In the video, the masked executioner, apparently a child terrorist soldier by his voice said the execution was an avengement of some “bloodshed” by Christians in Plateau State.

Standing behind his victim with an English pistol, the executioner chanted some words in Arabic before transiting to Hausa to say, “In particular, this is one among the Christians from Plateau State.

“We are saying to Christians, we have not forgotten what you have done to our parents and ancestors and we are telling all Christians around the world, we have not forgotten and will not stop.

“We must avenge the bloodshed that has been done like this one…”

Similar Plateau Christian targeted execution

A similar execution was done in October 2019 when two Plateau Christians – Mr. Lawrence Duna Dacighir and Godfrey Ali Shikagham, both members of Church of Christ in Nations, Kombun, in Mangu LGA, were executed.

In the execution video, the spokesman of the group, standing with an AK47 rifle behind the victims with two other AK47 wielding men said they were avenging the “murder and rape” of their people in Plateau State.

Statistics however show that thousands of Plateau Christian natives, mainly women and children have since 2001 been killed, mostly in overnight attacks by herdsmen believed to be Muslim Fulani.

“Unbearable Pain”

The execution of Mr. Daciya has thrown his family into “unbearable pain”, said a relation, Mr. Satmak Da’ar in a telephone conversation.

However, the family is still analyzing the video for further decisions, he said.

No mourning is therefore ongoing until the video is authenticated, said Mr. Da’ar.

The Mupun Community Development Association has however called the “devastating” act “devilish”.

“As MUCDA, we are deeply pained that this has also come to our door steps directly as our own brothers from other cultures on the plateau have also had a share at one point in time of this devilish and inhumane act of taking people’s lives,” the group said in a press statement on Wednesday through its spokesman, Kenzy Ngupar.

The group has scheduled a crucial meeting on Saturday to specially discuss the execution.
